Cleeve Prior Neighbourhood Plan to be Updated

The Cleeve Prior Neighbourhood Plan was formally made by Wychavon District Council on 21 February 2018, in accordance with the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 and the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended). It continues to form part of the statutory Development Plan for the area and is applied alongside the South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP) in the determination of planning applications within the Cleeve Prior Neighbourhood Area under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.

Since its adoption, a number of material changes have occurred in planning policy, local circumstances and development pressures. The Parish Council considers that the Plan is therefore in need of review and update in order to ensure that it remains robust, up to date, and capable of carrying full statutory weight in the planning decision-making process.

Cleeve Prior Parish Council has accordingly established a new Neighbourhood Plan Review Working Group, which will be supported by Gary Kirk, a nationally recognised specialist in neighbourhood planning. The Working Group will undertake the review process in accordance with the statutory procedures set out in the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, including consultation, independent examination and, where required, referendum.

The Parish Council is grateful that Wychavon District Council has indicated its willingness to support smaller authorities within the District by assisting with the costs of specialist consultancy, thereby helping to meet the requirements of a compliant and legally sound plan review.

Residents are strongly encouraged to attend the scheduled monthly meetings of the Working Group and to engage with the review process, in order to remain informed and to contribute to the future development and protection of the parish through an up-to-date and effective Neighbourhood Plan.
